Hello everyone
After a long abscence due to a forgotten password (!!!) I've finally had time on Christmas day to re-generate a new password.
Here's what we've been up to in 2009.
We welcomed the New Year in Swakopmund, Namibia with Carmen's family and a party at Sharon and Jeff's.
Then Kasper and Rebecca travelled alone back to Denmark and Carmen continued to Pretoria where she had to work for 2 weeks. It was the first time Rebecca and Carmen were seperated and it was tough on both of them.
In the spring, we started our garden project and a month later we had a beautiful front garden with a tiny patch of lawn, a white picket fence, newly painted garden furniture, a sandbox and a mini slide :-)
Uncle Wayne visited us for Easter and Rebecca loved playing with him. They went for walks together and when Uncle Wayne had to practice, Rebecca encouraged him by saying "MERE!" ("more") when he stopped singing.
Over the summer Carmen's mom was diagnosed with cancer again. Carmen travelled to South Africa for 2 weeks to be with her Mom, Dad and Wayne. Kasper and Becky spent the holidays with Rebecca's grandparents in Denmark. Carmen's Mom's doing very well in January she'll be going for a check-up in Cape Town to make sure all the bad cells are gone.
The highlight of the summer holiday was the very last day when Rebecca turned 2 on the 9th of August. We celebrated for THREE whole days with family, friends and Rebecca's nursery school.
At the end of August we participated in the annual Summer Party in our little neighbourhood in Osterbro, Copenhagen. We bought lots of toys at the kids' flea market, and we ate lots of homebaked cake and had a braai with all the other families. That same weekend, Kasper became an uncle - Rebecca's cousin Michael was born in the Faroe Islands.
Autumn was a busy period for Kasper and Carmen. We both were very busy at work, and as the days got shorter, colder and darker, our work lives intensified. Rebecca got the usual fortnightly cold/influenza at creche and when we just thought we couldn't take it anymore - we got some good news. Carmen was pregnant!
All has gone well with the pregnancy so far. Carmen is halfway now, 20 weeks, and in a couple of days we're going for an ultrasound. This time we'll ask whether they can tell us whether Rebecca is getting a baby sister or brother.
This year was Danish Christmas. Last night we had a lovely Christmas Eve (and a real white Christmas) with Kasper's Mom and family and tomorrow (26th) we're off to Viborg and on the 27th it's Rebecca's cousin Michael's christening.
We would like to wish all our family and friends a blessed festive season and all the best in 2010.
All our love
Kasper, Carmen & Rebecca
